We keep cookies to an absolute minimum, and we've written this so you can actually understand it. A solicitor will review it before launch, but the plan is to keep it honest and readable.
The short version
We use a single, essential cookie to remember your cookie choice. Nothing optional runs unless you switch it on. By default there's no tracking and no analytics.
What's a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some are essential for a site to function; others are optional. We only use the essential one by default, and we ask before loading anything else.
The cookies we use
- Essential, your cookie choice. One cookie (
sa_cookie_consent) remembers whether you accepted or declined the optional categories, so we don't ask on every visit. Always on; lasts about a year. - Functional, none right now. We don't currently set any. The toggle is there in case we add something like remembering your language, and it stays off until you opt in.
- Analytics, none right now. We don't track how you use the site. If we ever add privacy-friendly analytics, it will only run after you opt in through this toggle.
- Marketing, YouTube video embeds. Our devlog videos are hosted on YouTube. They only load if you turn this on (or click a video to play it), and then YouTube sets its own cookies. Off by default.
YouTube
YouTube (Google) is the only third party that can set cookies here, and only if you let a video load. Until you do, your browser never contacts YouTube at all. Once loaded, those cookies are governed by Google's own privacy policy. There's more in our Privacy Policy.
Managing your choices
You can change your mind any time using the cookie button in the bottom corner of any page, which reopens your preferences. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings, just note that blocking the essential one means we'll have to ask you again on every visit.
